Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies (IMES) of the Bank of Japan is interested in hiring Ph.D.s in economics and related fields. The IMES expects candidates to carry out high-quality research in the fields of macroeconomics, monetary economics, finance, international finance, and econometrics. The IMES encourages academic research as its primary duty, while some policy-related research may be required for in-house purposes. The IMES offers salary and benefits competitive with that of an academic position. Although many research papers are written in English, the main working language at the IMES is Japanese; therefore, excellent Japanese speaking, reading, and writing skills are required.
