The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is seeking a Senior Associate Director for our Social Enterprise Initiative (SEI) Center. SEI was launched in March 2012 to support growing interest among faculty, students and alumni to understand and engage with the evolving set of institutions addressing social problems. In particular, SEI has two main objectives: furthering research on how institutions help to solve social problems and supporting the aspirations of Chicago Booth students and alumni to impact societal issues.

The senior associate director will have deep experience in research and a passion for social sector issues. This position is most heavily involved in the strategy, project management and execution of the research activities. New PhD graduates will be considered with comparable experience.

This role will drive research projects on nonprofit management practices and impact measurement; vetting and supporting faculty-led research projects; building relationships with industry, nonprofit and government practitioners to generate research partnerships; directly funding research projects; hosting convenings on social sector topics; a visiting faculty program; and, publication of SEI authored white papers.

The ideal candidate would be entrepreneurial and able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. They would be passionate about the social sector and improving it through research. They would be independent, collaborative, resourceful, flexible, and creative at work. And they would possess strong core research skills, including developing hypotheses and insights, creating project plans, coordinating and managing research parties, drafting surveys, etc. Ultimately, this role will have the opportunity to shape this effort within Booth and beyond.
