Full Text of JOE Listing:

Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy (SESP) and Institute for Policy Research (IPR) invite applicants for a faculty appointment, ideally at the tenured Associate or Full Professor level. We seek an economist whose work addresses topics in human development and/or social policy, and whose work is relevant to policy. The ideal scholar would specialize in areas such as the economics of education, human capital, human development, labor markets, inequality, poverty, social capital, health or social policy. To promote policy-relevant research activities, the IPR portion of the appointment will carry a reduction in teaching responsibilities. The ideal candidate would have an outstanding record of both scholarly publications and externally funded research, and a record of excellence in teaching. Teaching and advising responsibilities will include doctoral students in the Human Development and Social Policy (HDSP) program, as well as undergraduate courses in the School of Education and Social Policy. The search committee will begin considering applications immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Applicants should submit electronically a letter outlining their research program and teaching experience, a current CV, representative reprints, and three letters of reference, to Professor Jonathan Guryan, Search Committee Chair, c/o Laura Salus at l-salus@northwestern.edu by November 15, 2015. Minorities and women are strongly urged to apply. Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer of all protected classes including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States. Northwestern University is located in an attractive lakefront community adjacent to Chicago.
