Picwell develops predictive analytics tools that help consumers make optimal purchasing decisions in health insurance markets. Our clients include insurers, health insurance exchanges, and employers.

We are seeking economists to contribute to the ongoing development of Picwell’s products. Economists are responsible for identifying and solving economic issues relevant to Picwell, and research areas will span a range of topics in the areas of health economics, industrial organization, labor economics and econometrics. Candidates will be expected to own specific research streams and work with Picwell economist Bob Town, Jon Kolstad, Ben Handel and other economists and data scientists on staff to translate economic models from concepts to working products.

Basic Qualifications
• PhD in Economics (or related discipline) or anticipating completion of a PhD in Economics by August 2015. Concentrations in Industrial Organization, Health Economics, Labor Economics, and Applied Microeconomics preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior work experience in consulting or in a government, non-profit, or academic research position.
• Familiarity with health economics and health insurance markets, in particular.
• Demonstrated ability to produce and present empirical research.
• Familiarity with statistical/machine learning methods.
• Experience with R and/or Python
• Experience working in a team environment and managing teams.
