CBO, a nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with the objective analyses needed for economic and budgetary decisions, seeks both new and experienced economists with a broad range of policy interests:

Financial Economist to conduct analyses to evaluate the costs of federal financial activities and contribute to CBO’s recurring projections for the economy and the budget.

Experienced Agricultural Economist to share responsibility for a variety of federal programs involving agriculture, particularly the activities of the Commodity Credit Corporation and the Federal Crop Insurance Program.

Experienced Health Economists to contribute to a variety of projects and analyses in the health area.

I/O Economist with training or experience in applied industrial organization, market design, or a related field to assess the effect of various forms of federal involvement in markets for goods and services.

Defense Budget Analyst to be the point person on defense budget issues and to lead studies analyzing and writing about the programs and activities in DoD’s budget and projecting trends in funding levels—particularly for the operation and maintenance (O&M) account.

Macroeconomist with a broad range of interests, including public finance and fiscal policy.
