The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign is seeking an exceptional postdoctoral researcher to conduct innovative research examining the economic and environmental implications of bioenergy for transportation and electricity. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to join ongoing projects that will involve development of economic models to analyze the incentives and implications of bioenergy production for land use change, risks and design of contracts and policies, facility location and transportation choice and for various environmental indicators such as soil and water quality and biodiversity. The ability to use GIS databases to undertake spatially explicit quantitative analysis is desired. We seek a candidate with excellent computational, programming and econometric skills, experience in numerical simulation models, outstanding ability to perform thoughtful, critical quantitative analysis, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A demonstrated ability to produce quality research output and a strong publication record will be among the selection criteria. We will make a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for one more year.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in one of the following areas: Economics, Agricultural Economics, Forest Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Operations Research, or a related field.
