Professors Raj Chetty (Harvard), John Friedman (Brown), Nathan Hendren (Harvard), and Emmanuel Saez (Berkeley) are hiring a full‐time research assistant for the academic year June 8, 2015 ‐ August 27, 2016. They are under contract to work with the Statistics of Income Division at IRS to develop the Databank, a new shared IRS statistical resource.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, or Computer Programming and strong mathematical, quantitative and programming experience/skills in order to program and analyze complex data sets. Candidates with research assistant experience and programming experience with Stata, SAS or Matlab, and Python strongly preferred.
The job involves close collaboration with the professors at all stages of the project. Responsibilities include performing statistical analyses on large databases (50% of time), writing programs to perform efficient computations with big datasets (30% of time), and preparing and reviewing work prior to presentations or submissions (20% of time). The position is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
