In areas as diverse as environmental policy, crime and security, and urban planning, rapid advances in the way data are collected, distributed, and analyzed have altered the way that policy leaders rely on evidence to drive decisions. Information technology and computational analysis are making public policy more responsive, efficient, and successful. The University of Chicago aims to become the leading destination for research and training in computation and public policy. In a joint hiring initiative with the Computation Institute, Chicago Harris invites applications for junior faculty positions in Data Science. We will consider applications from scholars in policy-relevant aspects of computer science, as well as from applicants applying data science methods in diverse policy areas. Applicants must expect to have completed their Ph.D. by July 31, 2015 and demonstrate strong promise for a scholarly career. Applicants are required to submit a C.V., two letters of recommendation (three preferred), and one writing sample on line at http://tinyurl.com/qzuxnsp.
