Swiss Re is seeking a Ph.D. Economist with exceptional analytical skills and interests in applied microeconomics or law and economics. A successful candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) years non-academic research experience in industry, think tank, the public interest community, or consulting.

The candidate will join Swiss Re's new Trend Spotting Team, an exciting new unit created at the highest level in the organization to provide data-based, independent, forward looking, quantitative analysis to help position Swiss Re's underwriting and improve costing. The candidate will be a key contributor to establishing a network / process / framework to identify early trends affecting the insurance landscape, particularly in the legal and social environment, with an initial focus on the US casualty business. He/ she should have established experience in regression techniques, analysis of complex survey and industry data, core competency in economic / statistical software, with some exposure to the US insurance landscape.
