University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) invites nominations and applications for the position of international Dean of a newly established institute, the institute of Global Value Chain (GVC) research, consisting of 30 full time teaching/research faculties and 5 administrative and supporting staffs that will be filled in next 3-5 years. The institute is an independent college of UIBE focusing on research and graduate training without undergraduates. The international Dean will be responsible for the academic affairs and international program in close cooperation with the Chinese Dean (Vice President of UIBE) to manage the institute’s activities based on consensus. The international dean must be a leading scholar in the field of global value-chain and trade in value-added research and thus personally contribute to the visibility and internationally acclaimed reputation of the institute, as well as supporting faculty and graduate student visibility in and engagement with the world academic and policy making community. The international dean’s responsibilities also include: recruiting and developing faculty, promoting and sustaining excellent academic programs, forging strong collaborative relationships with other colleges within UIBE and with other domestic and international universities, thinking tanks and national and international government organizations, developing and monitoring budgets, increasing the institute’s endowment, and advancing its internationalization.

The successful candidate will be a scholar with an innovative and rigorous research program in the quantitative analysis of GVC with at least 15 year experience after his/her Ph.D served in a senior position at an international academic or research institution and have a career track record of high quality, independent academic and policy research demonstrated by publications in top international refereed journals, and the leadership and relationship-building skills that will enable the institute to fulfill its strategic goals and aspirations. The successful candidate will be also appointed as a full professor at the institute.

The appointment needs at least 6 month in a year and will be effective starting from the 2015-2016 academic year. Compensation package includes competitive salary, research funds, plus housing allowances. For distinguished international scholars, we offer highly competitive compensation package above market level.
