The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is a component of the U.S. Department of Commerce and is the Executive Branch agency principally responsible for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy. NTIA’s programs and policymaking focus largely on expanding broadband Internet access and adoption in America, expanding the use of spectrum by all users, and ensuring that the Internet remains an engine for continued innovation and economic growth. The NTIA Office of Policy Analysis and Development (OPAD) provides policy advice and counsel to the Secretary of Commerce, Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information, executive branch agencies and all components of NTIA. NTIA is seeking Chief Economist candidates with top academic and professional credentials with mid-career level experience (7-10 years) in the areas of telecommunications and information economic policy. Candidates will have the opportunity to lead work with diverse data sets generated by the U.S. Department of Commerce, including the U.S. Census Bureau, and to explore complex economic topics related to the digital economy. Candidates must meet federal hiring standards for Economists.
