International Institute for Advance Studies (IIAS), based in Kyoto, Japan, is to conduct research for the future and well-being of mankind to create sustainable society. IIAS does not have any experimental devices. IIAS gathers researchers and practitioners beyond nation and field, let them discuss in an atmosphere of freedom. IIAS have been managed under the four concepts. 1)have an international perspective, 2)have a go-ahead attitude to things, 3)have a flexibility, and 4)cooperate with non-academic.

IIAS is looking for a curator/producer/coordinator to realize our mission. Curator is a person who can collect, classify and fix the future course of research activities to add social value of our activities. Producer is a person who can create, manage and direct an interface between academic and real world so that people are in comfortable circumstances and the social value is heighten by our activities. Coordinator is a person who can manage such activities. This is our definition.

Reductionism is not expected as an approach for those who are going to apply to this position. However, KSAOs (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and others) as a researcher would be necessary to satisfy this position since wide variety of knowledge and experience would be required. Also, an applicant will also be involved as a practitionor. Either academic or nonacademic, this job requires a person who can cooperate with various stake holders not only in the academic world, but also in the society to create sustainable society.

It is our 30th anniversarry this fiscal year. We are looking for a highly-motivated for the next 30-year's activities to make the world better.

We welcome applies from various background, for example, social science, natural science, the humanities and practical ones. Ph. D. is desirable, but it is not essential. Job experiences are not necessary. IIAS is based in Japan and the main working language at the IIAS is Japanese, therefore, Japanese speaking, reading and writing skills are required. We will renew an contract every two years at first. Screening begins December 10, 2014, and continues until the position is filled.
