Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the largest source of financing for development in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), wishes to interview Ph.D.-level economists to work in the Research Department (RES) or other areas of the Bank.

IDB research economists publish regularly in refereed academic journals and pursue policy-oriented, analytical research that enlightens the Bank’s work regarding development challenges and appropriate policy responses. It also improves the effectiveness and relevance of the Bank’s operations in its member countries.

We are considering new Ph.D. candidates as well as those that have accumulated some years of relevant experience after completing their Ph.D.s. Successful candidates would possess: (1) strong technical skills; (2) a record of—or good prospects for—high-quality, original research in peer-reviewed journals; and (3) the ability to communicate to a wide range of potential audiences.

Areas of interest: This call is open to all areas but we particularly seek research economists specializing in: Public Finance, Industrial Organization, Development, and International Macroeconomics.

Members of the selection panel will conduct interviews during the 2015 Allied Social Sciences Association (ASSA) Annual Meeting, to be held in Boston from January 3 through January 5, 2015.

Candidates should apply via: https://iadbcareers.taleo.net/careersection/external/jobdetail.ftl?job=1400006523
