The Economics Department, Virginia Tech invites applications for Assistant Professor. Ph.D. in economics or related discipline is required at the time of appointment. Foreign equivalent accepted. Must have published articles on Neuroeconomics, Behavioral Economic Theory or Experimental Economics in well-cited, peer reviewed journals. Candidates who are still in graduate school or have completed their Ph.D. less than a year ago must have at least two working papers that are under review or ready to be submitted for publication and are likely to be published in well-cited, peer reviewed journals. Other requirements include evidence of teaching effectiveness, experience with cross-disciplinary research collaborations, commitment to advise and teach a diverse student body, vision, creativity, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities include: Active participation in the recently introduced interdisciplinary undergraduate program in neuroscience; Active participation in department’s undergraduate and graduate teaching missions; Development and maintenance of an internationally recognized, externally funded, cross-disciplinary research program; Participation in department and university administrative governance and advising functions; Continuing development of scholarly activities and professional capabilities; Adherence to the faculty handbook. Substantial resources are available to support Neuroscience research, including an fMRI scanner on the main campus and two at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute in nearby Roanoke.
