The Centre for Policy and Market Design the University of Technology Sydney has several Postdoc openings. Research at the Centre focuses on the design of improved social, political, and economic institutions using theory and experiments. The Centre is seeking to fill:
A Postdoc position in theory
A Postdoc position in experimental
A Postdoc position that combines the development and support of JAVA based auction/market software with (experimental) research in this area

Candidates for positions 1 and 2 should have completed their PhD in economics (or be near completion), and have a strong background in either theoretical or experimental research with a focus on auction/mechanism design, networks, or political institutions. Candidates for position 3 should have a strong background in programming, in particular JAVA. The position entails 50% programming time and 50% research, with some flexibility depending on the candidate’s interests and skills.

The start date and terms of the positions are negotiable. Applications will be reviewed starting January 1, 2015 on an ongoing basis until the positions are filled.

The Economics Discipline Group was formed in 2011 and is rapidly establishing itself as one of the premier research departments in Australia. In the 2012 “Excellence in Research” evaluation, UTS was the only university in Sydney and one of only four universities in Australia, to be awarded the top rating of 5 out of 5 in the field of Economics. UTS was also awarded the top rating for Econometrics and was the only university in Australia, awarded the top rating for Applied Economics (http://www.arc.gov.au/era/outcomes_2012/FoR/14).
