Full Text of JOE Listing:

Georgia State University, a recent recipient of the prestigious federally funded IES Center for the Study of Adult Literacy (http://csal.gsu.edu) award, is seeking an outstanding economist to join its faculty as part of its Second Century Initiative (2CI) (http://secondcentury.gsu.edu). The 2CI is a major program to expand the University’s strategic research areas and interdisciplinary strength. We invite applications for a tenured or tenure-track position, beginning in August 2015, for scholars working in economics of education, human resources and development, development economics, or public economics and who have an interest in the economic impact of low adult literacy. Faculty members will be hired at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor.

The Adult Literacy 2CI cluster is composed of faculty from the College of Education and its newly developing College of Education’s Adult Literacy Research Center (ALRC), the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, and the School of Public Health. The cluster seeks to advance research in Adult Literacy focusing either on policy impacts and/or content areas (such as health, workplace, family and/or numeracy). The successful candidate will be joined by a new faculty hire in the College of Education and a new faculty hire in the School of Public Health. Applicants are expected to have strong records of scholarship, funded research, excellence in teaching, and service in the broadly defined area of adult literacy.

The Andrew Young School (aysps.gsu.edu) is ranked among the top 20 policy schools in the U.S. The school houses the university’s Department of Economics (aysps.gsu.edu/econ), with research centers in health policy, fiscal policy, experimental, and international studies, among others.
