The University of Wyoming invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Business. Nominees and applicants from diverse backgrounds are most welcome. The Dean, who reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is assisted by two Associate Deans, is responsible for all aspects of academic life within the College, including teaching, research, personnel matters and budgets. The successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills and the ability to serve as an articulate and zealous representative of, and advocate for, the College’s programs, locally, in Wyoming, nationally and internationally. The Dean will lead fundraising efforts for the College and will enhance partnerships with businesses throughout Wyoming and beyond.

The College of Business is comprised of approximately 90 faculty and staff, with eight faculty holding endowed professorships, and over 1,300 students in three departments: Accounting, Economics and Finance, and Management and Marketing. All college faculty, staff and students are housed within a technologically advanced LEED Gold certified building which opened in 2010. The college faculty strives for a high level of scholarship. The Economics and Finance department, for example, was recently ranked in the top ten internationally in the field of environmental and resource economics with three of the top 100 scholars in the field; Accounting is actively engaged with the professional community throughout Wyoming and the region particularly in the areas of fraud and ethics education and research; Management and Marketing faculty consistently publish in high quality journals in their disciplines and established a PhD in marketing in 2010 which graduated its first student in 2014. Departments within the college provide educational opportunities for both business students as well as service courses to non-business majors across the campus. The College offers AACSB-accredited programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Located in Laramie, with a population of 30,000, nestled on the high plains between two ranges of the Rocky Mountains in southeastern Wyoming, the University of Wyoming is a land grant institution of truly distinctive character. As the only public four-year institution of higher learning in Wyoming, the University enjoys a leadership role in the state and region. UW draws approximately 13,000 students in undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs. Given its unique strategic position and solid base of excellent academic programs, the Dean will be positioned to make the College of Business into one of the best in the Rocky Mountain region through recruiting and graduating outstanding students, infusing curricular innovation, generating deep connections with businesses and working with the state’s K-12 system to develop a pipeline of undergraduate students to the college. The new dean will be in an uncommon position to make unprecedented impact for the University of Wyoming and the State.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an advanced degree, significant experience in management of complex organizations and an established record in teaching, research and service or equivalent experience sufficient to merit the rank of full professor in one of the College’s departments. Preferred qualifications include excellent communications skills, a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively, proven experience in seeking and fostering internal and external partnerships and enhancing financial resources, and proven experience in leading strategic and focused growth initiatives. The successful candidate should have demonstrated examples of innovation and managing effective change.
