The Department of Economics of Northern Illinois University anticipates hiring two tenure-track Assistant Professors to begin August 2015. For the first position we seek an applied economist with research and teaching interests in microeconomics and public economics. For the second position we seek an applied economist with research and teaching interests in macroeconomics and financial economics. Successful candidates will be expected to engage in research leading to publication in high quality economics journals, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the above fields, supervise doctoral student research, and seek external research funding. A PhD in economics at the time of appointment is required and a record of publication is preferred.

The Department participates in interdisciplinary programs with the Division of Statistics, the Department of Finance, and the School of Public and Global Affairs and seeks candidates whose interests complement these programs. NIU, which is 65 miles west of Chicago and connected by rail to the city, serves a diverse student body.
