Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies seeks to hire a term-limited research associate or postdoctoral fellow to work on a NIH-funded project entitled “Welfare Effects of Policies to Balance the Social Security and Medicare Budgets” led by HSPH Professor David Canning in collaboration with Professor Timothy Kehoe of the University of Minnesota. A competitive compensation package will be offered.
This candidate will have expertise in computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling. Primary duties will include: constructing the CGE model for both economic and health outcomes; using the model to determine the effects of different scenarios for balancing the Social Security and Medicare budget; and completing a welfare analysis looking at how the economic and health impact varies across different social economic strata and across cohorts.
All applicants should have a Ph.D. in economics or related discipline with a specialization in Computable General Equilibrium analysis. Recent or new Ph.D.s should apply for the Research Fellow position. For the Research Associate position, postdoctoral experience, publications in the field, and experience in working on issues related to the US federal budget, social security, or health care, are desirable. Initial appointments will be for 2 or 3 years with the possibility of renewal.
