The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (AERS) at the University of Idaho (UI) invites applications for a 12-month tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics, with a focus on food and agricultural marketing throughout the supply chain. The position carries a 70 percent extension and a 30 percent research appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to support value-added and product differentiation efforts in the state by the supply chain. In addition, s/he will identify market opportunities, and facilitate strategic marketing decisions for Idaho’s food producers and agribusinesses. Responsibilities will include participation in interdisciplinary collaborations with other College and University units, including but not limited to UI’s Food Technology Center. The successful candidate is expected to be a leader in extension activities, contributing significantly to the overall UI Extension efforts through effective collaborative efforts with state specialists and county faculty located throughout Idaho and the region. The research program is expected to be analytically rigorous and synergistic with the extension program, developing original research that leads to publications in appropriate scholarly journals, including interdisciplinary journals related to this appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop extramural funding to support both extension and research efforts.

The person in this position will be responsible for developing a nationally-recognized extension and research program in food and/or agribusiness marketing, specifically to support innovation in and development and competitiveness of Idaho's diverse food and agricultural sector.
