Several agencies within the federal government will be recruiting economists on the 2014-15 job market. Each agency posts positions separately, with many ads for the positions appearing here on JOE. Some agencies ask for materials via JOE, but all will eventually require applicants to comply with federal hiring procedures and respond to a vacancy announcement through the USAJOBS website at https://www.usajobs.gov/. The economist portal on USAJOBS contains material that may be of use to economists interested in federal government careers. The portal includes FAQs about applying for federal government jobs with an emphasis on navigating the USAJOBS application process, testimonials from Ph.D. economists employed by the federal government, and a search tool to explore all economist positions currently posted on USAJOBS.
