The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) [Office of Chief Statistician; Office of Chief Economist] anticipates filling two or more Ph.D. level economist positions in 2015. BEA’s mission as a leader in the development of new and innovative approaches to economic measurement is to strengthen our understanding of the U.S. economy by improving GDP and other national, regional, industry, and international accounts data. A successful candidate will conduct independent research on topics of importance to BEA’s mission and will be expected to publish that research in professional journals, the Survey of Current Business, as well as present the work at conferences. Candidates who have demonstrated experience with empirical research are preferred. Starting salaries for a Ph.D. level economist range from $95,785 to $131,053 per year, depending on experience and education. A curriculum vita, a sample of written work, and three letters of recommendation are required. Submit application materials through JOE by December 8, 2014.
