The Treasury Department's Office of Microeconomic Analysis has two openings for well-qualified economists interested in helping develop economic policy at the federal level. New graduates and experienced economists are welcome to apply. Our office conducts research and analysis for senior Treasury and Administration officials and the public on a wide range of economic issues, including fiscal policy, entitlement reform, pensions, labor, health, education, housing, insurance, regulation, technological change, infrastructure, energy, the environment, and financial market issues. Staff economists work closely with top policymakers throughout the federal government while also pursuing their own research agenda as time permits.

The work requires skills usually associated with a Ph.D. in economics or similar degree. In addition, successful candidates must have the ability to present their views clearly and concisely in written and oral briefings, often under tight time constraints.

U.S. citizenship is required at the time of application.
