Economic Analyst - #77072177. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (EO/AAE) is looking for an economist with a strong foundation in natural resources or environmental economics to conduct applied research in support of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissions mission to conserve fish and wildlife resources. The successful applicant will be expected to act as the principal investigator and project manager for economic studies that focus on wildlife management and other environmental policies or programs. The position offers the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment on policy -related issues. Job responsibilities include:

- Advising FWC staff on the application of economics to wildlife management and related issues;
- Data collection and analysis, including the design and implementation of surveys and analysis of secondary data;
- Application for grants and other funding;
- Translating economic concepts and methods to non-economists;
- Capacity building through collaborative economic and human dimensions research efforts with both academia and the private sector.
- Production of reports, white papers and publications in peer-reviewed journals;

Potential applied research areas include (but are not limited to): economic impact analysis, non-market valuation, benefits transfer, cost-benefit analysis, payments for ecosystem services, and human dimensions analysis.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in economics with demonstrated 3 years related work experience or graduate level economics degree with 1 year related work experience. Training or experience in applied economics, with particular focus on environmental or natural resource economics; experience in survey design, data collection and data analysis; training in the use of statistical software such as STATA, SAS, SPSS or R; familiarity with Excel; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work well within teams; project management; and grant writing and management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with research, management and policy issues dealing with Florida's wildlife and ecology.
