Evidence Action is accepting applications for its Post-Doctoral Research and Policy Fellowship. The Fellowship is a one-year term appointment running from mid-2014 to mid-2015, with precise dates flexible.

Evidence Action is a 501c3 headquartered in Washington DC. We work on ideas and approaches in global development that are backed by substantial evidence of efficacy and impact and spend our energy and effort developing cost-effective, robust business models and financing strategies that allow tens of millions of people to benefit. Evidence Action's partners include the END Fund, GiveWell, Good Ventures and the Douglas B. Marshall Jr. Foundation. Our programs are also supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, and Development Innovation Ventures at USAID. Learn more about Evidence Action at www.evidenceaction.org.

The focus of this fellowship will be to develop and execute the research and learning agenda around what evidence-based approaches Evidence Action will invest in next. The Fellow will work independently and in collaboration with senior leadership and our advisors to identify candidate programs for scale-up and a learning and research agenda to take a good idea to the next step: a fleshed-out business plan. This may involve designing data collection strategies, impact evaluations, and engaging in dialogue with experts.
The goal of the fellowship to provide the practical-minded scholar interested in impact on the ground an opportunity to explore the space between good ideas and what gets implemented, while building up networks, skills and experiences that will serve the fellow well in future positions. The fellow may continue to pursue an independent research agenda in addition to this work as determined on a case-by-case basis.
Application Instructions:

Interested applicants should send electronic versions of a CV, a writing sample, and cover letter. We also strongly encourage you to submit a letter of recommendation, but this is not required. Your cover letter should describe why you are interested in the gap between evidence and implementation and your goals for this fellowship. It will be useful to signal your willingness to move to Washington for one year. All materials should be sent to Ms. Mary Philips at jobs(at)evidenceaction.org with "Post-Doctoral Research Fellow" in the subject line.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We unfortunately cannot sponsor work visas. Evidence Action is an Equal Opportunity Employer, adhering to the laws that prohibit discrimination in the terms and conditions of employment.
