The International Projects Division (INPRO) of NORC at the University of Chicago invites applications for the positions of Lead Economist and Project Economist based in our Washington, DC area offices. INPRO conducts rigorous impact evaluations and other research-related activities in the field of international development. Our rapidly growing portfolio of projects spans a wide range of social and economic development subject areas such as agriculture, food security, land, health and education, infrastructure, and finance, among others.

The responsibilities of both positions will include:
- Providing analytical input and support across development-related impact evaluations and research studies and other projects;
- Data analysis and reporting of results;
- Monitoring data collection activities to ensure consistency with analytical objectives;
- Proposal writing and development;
- Representing NORC�s expertise in a specific research or policy area through technical communications, testimony, publications in peer-reviewed journals and other outlets, and conferences.

The responsibilities of the Lead Economist will also include leading the design and implementation of research projects as Principal Investigator as well as supervising junior staff.

Requirements:
Successful candidates for either position will have a PhD in economics, agricultural economics, or other quantitative social sciences. Candidates must have a solid grounding in microeconometric methods related to impact evaluation and experience implementing these methods. Excellent interpersonal/communications skills as well as the ability to effectively represent the organization to clients and in other professional settings is essential for either position.

Candidates for the Lead Economist position must also have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience excluding graduate assistantships. Some of this experience must include leading the design and implementation of rigorous experimental or quasi-experimental impact evaluations. New or recent PhDs are encouraged to apply for the Project Economist position, but should not apply for the Lead Economist position.
