Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Economics seeks to fill the inaugural Paul Volcker Chair. The ideal candidate for this Chair is a scholar of recognized stature who also has experience with economic policy making and has lectured and participated in panels in policymaking and public settings. The appointee is expected to have a strong record of publications in prominent, peer reviewed journals in addition to a record of notable interaction with business and/or policy officials outside of academia. Successful candidates will contribute to training of undergraduate and graduate students in the department's and School's various degree programs including advising of Ph.D. students. The Chair holder is also expected to be actively involved in public policy debates. We anticipate filling the position at the Full Professor level but will also consider applications from qualified individuals at the Associate level.

The position will include a dedicated research budget. Ideally, the holder of the Chair will partially support research activities and graduate students by securing grants from other sources. Expertise in macroeconomics is desired with some overlap in one or more areas of traditional strength in the department including labor economics, public economics, international economics, and urban economics.

Syracuse University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. Members of traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
