The American Institutes for Research’s (AIR) Workforce and Training group in Washington, DC has been at the forefront of applied research to enhance the performance of individuals and organizations.

Through innovative research and the application of evidence-based practices, AIR’s Workforce and Training groups supports the development of high performance individuals, teams, and organizations. Our work encompasses the entire life cycle—workforce preparedness, recruitment, selection, performance management, training, retention, and more—and provides our public and private sector clients with unique insight and solutions. Our experts apply research-based principles in developing the knowledge, tools, systems, and programs required for maximizing human and organizational potential in the 21st century.

Responsibilities
• Serving as client contact for analytical or statistical expertise
• Managing or leading projects or tasks
• Developing conceptual frameworks that guide project work
• Applying appropriate techniques to collect, analyze and report quantitative data
• Organizing and documenting analytical results and research procedures
• Preparing technical reports and journal articles and present findings to clients and to the public
• Assisting in developing and drafting new business proposals
• Mentoring research analysts, sharing their approaches to solving concrete problems, and providing feedback on the work of others

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in economics, with expertise in econometrics or applied statistics. Able to apply advanced statistical methods, and able to communicate effectively about these methods to non-technical audiences. Highly proficient in statistical software such as STATA, R, or SAS. Prior quantitative research on workforce and labor market topics using advanced methods such as fixed effects, regression discontinuity, or instrumental variables desired.
