The School of Economics at Surrey ( has a reputation for Research and Teaching in Economics, built upon a commitment to high quality, rigorously founded applied and theoretical work, often of direct policy significance. The School enjoys a strong profile in research and teaching, exemplified by a successful 2008 RAE and recent NSS scores. We have invested heavily to recruit staff whose work is innovative and consequential for international research agendas.

As part of an exciting strategic initiative to consolidate the School's position as a top Economics department in the UK, we are looking to make one appointment at Professorial or Reader level. Candidates will bring with them an outstanding record of achievement in scholarship and research at both national and international levels. They will be expected to contribute to the objectives of the School of Economics by engaging in research and teaching of the highest quality, publishing in top international journals, leading bids for external funding, mentoring junior colleagues and engaging in the supervision of research students.
Our search is focused on the general field of Macroeconomics. However, we will consider candidates with exceptional research and teaching records in any field of Economics and Econometrics.
