Recent research results have shown that the discipline of economics has long been lacking in diversity and has only barely improved during the past several decades. A diverse panel of economists will describe their various paths to success in the discipline and offer recommendations that could lead to changes in the classroom. Such changes in economic education could be an effective way to make the economics classroom – and the discipline – more inclusive. Ultimately, this could lead to a broader set of perspectives within the discipline that could then improve economic analyses with new questions and new ways to address economic problems.
