Open Journal Systems (OJS)

This journal management software "assists with every stage of the refereed publishing process, from submissions through to online publication and indexing." It comes from the Public Knowledge Project at Simon Fraser Universtiy and is "open source" -- that is, anybody can use it and modify it as they wish. Like many on-line applications, it requires "LAMP" -- Linux (operating system), Apache (web server), MySQL (database) and PHP (web programming). It is easy to find computer science students and others familiar with this technology. More than 250 journals use OJS.
