AEA Member Announcements and Annual Meeting Highlights

Date: January 13, 2026
To: Members of the American Economic Association
From: Peter L. Rousseau, Secretary-Treasurer

The 2026 ASSA Meeting took place in Philadelphia, with more than 5,000 registrants. The energy among attendees and colleagues to be back together and the excitement for the new opportunities at the meeting were unmistakable throughout the hotels and meeting areas. Sixty-six associations came together to hold more than 550 scientific sessions including paper sessions, panel sessions, presidential addresses, poster sessions, and recent development lectures. There were also many special events including receptions, mentoring and networking luncheons, award ceremonies, and breakfast meetings. Get an inside look at some of the 2026 sessions, attendees, content, and lively discussions by viewing the ASSA Photo Gallery at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2026-photos and watching the AEA webcasts at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/webcasts/2026.

2026 AEA Program Committee

The committee was formed by AEA President Katharine Abraham, and included individuals from a broad range of institutions and fields, resulting in a diverse and interesting program. AEA Poster Session Videos – Coming Soon!

The 2026 AEA Poster Session proved very popular again this year, with designated times for presenters. Poster Session videos, which feature AEA interviews with 2026 poster presenters who discuss their research and the broader implications of their work will be available soon. Video highlights will be available at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/videos.

AEA Mentoring and Networking Luncheon

The second annual AEA Mentoring and Networking luncheon was a great success! This year’s luncheon offered students and junior scholars an opportunity to connect with senior and other junior economists in their field. The Association would like to thank the table leaders who readily and enthusiastically agreed to lend their time and expertise to this important event. We are also grateful for the participants who signed up and were engaged with both fellow attendees and the leaders.
