An AEA Service for Organizing Complete Annual Meeting Session Proposals
Econ-Harmony is now closed. Econ-Harmony for ASSA 2024 will open on February 1st, 2023.
An AEA service, EconHarmony began in 2009 and continued in 2022 for the 2023 Annual Meeting program. EconHarmony allows prospective individual paper submitters who are members of the AEA to post information about their paper and search for others with similar interests who might join them to form a complete session submission. It also allows AEA members to volunteer to chair sessions.
COMPLETE SESSIONS HAVE A SUBSTANTIALLY GREATER CHANCE OF MAKING THE PROGRAM THAN INDIVIDUAL PAPERS.
16% of 593 submitted complete sessions and 7% of 1,994* submitted individual papers made the 2022 AEA Annual Meeting program.
* Plus an additional 24% of 1208 individually submitted papers participated in the 2017 AEA Poster Session; 23% of 1342 individually submitted papers participated in the 2018 AEA Poster Session; 28% of 1227 individually submitted papers participated in the 2019 AEA Poster Session; 16% of 1606 individually submitted papers participated in the 2020 AEA Poster Session; 16% of 1752 individually submitted papers participated in the 2021 AEA Poster Session; 25% of 1994 individually submitted papers participated in the 2022 AEA Poster Session.
EconHarmony does not replace the formal submission process and it does not guarantee that a session will be included on the program. Rather, it is designed to help prospective authors identify others working on similar questions so they can form a jointly organized complete session to submit in the regular submission process. The normal submitted session includes four papers and a discussant for each.
