Would it be possible for the administrators of this page to change it such that users don't have to keep logging in again to this page every few hours? For usability reasons, one should be able to log in and stay logged in a personal computer, just as is the case with most websites or social media. From behavioral econ we should all know that these things make a big difference ;)

Thanks for the suggestion.  The login timeouts are a security feature.  We will, however, look into lengthening the period for forum usage.  If you would like more information, please use the feedback form or write to forum@aeaweb.org.

I find that automatic logout feature very irritating too. I've never come across such a  short one in any similar website.
