AEA congratulates Lisa Cook on being named a governor at the Federal Reserve

The American Economic Association congratulates Lisa Cook on her confirmation this week as a governor of the Federal Reserve. She is the first Black woman in history to hold this influential position. Cook is Professor of Economics and International Relations at Michigan State University.  She served as an elected member of the AEA Executive Committee and was on the Board of Editors for the Journal of Economic Literature until the time of her confirmation.  Cook is also a former member of the CSMGEP (Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession); you can learn more about her by reading her CSMGEP Profile.  She worked actively to coordinate the AEA Summer Research and Training Program when it was based at Michigan State University.  Her many honors and awards include the AEA Pipeline Impactful Mentor Award in 2019 for her work mentoring graduate students.
