The event will cover both theoretical and empirical analyses of the functioning of the international monetary system. The following topics are likely to be covered: - the interplay between domestic policy frameworks and the international monetary and financial system; - the role of ???rules of the game?? and the trade-off between interventions by supranational authorities and market-based adjustments; - the emergence of new stakeholders in the international monetary and financial system and the consequences of operating and co-ordinating in a more multipolar world; - proposals for providing international liquidity in times of crisis; - the international role of the US dollar as a reserve currency and international store of value and proposals to facilitate global reserves adjustment; ?? sovereign debt issues and mechanisms for sovereign debt re-structuring; ?? the role of exchange rate regimes and capital flows; and ?? the role of private capital markets in the international monetary and financial system.
