August 31-September 02, 2016
11th International Workshop on Retrial Queues and Related Topics (11th WRQ)
Amsterdam, Tinbergen Institute, Auditorium, Netherlands
We want to invite researchers working in such diverse fields as network applications, telecommunications, call-centers and pure queueing theory to participate. In all these research fields models show up in which the customers play a more active role than in the traditional queueing models such as pure delay or loss models. For instance models with non-persistent customers, abandonments and customer-controlled queueing models [and of course retrial models], to name just a few, are abundant in telecommunications and call-center research. As in retrial queues also in these latter models the customers have some freedom of choice after they have entered the system. This active role of the customers can be seen as a common feature of these models, and usually this characteristic makes the analysis of these models a great challenge as has been amply illustrated by the hampering difficulties encountered in the research on retrial queues. We invite Applied Probabilists, Operation Researchers, Engineers, Computer Scientists and Statisticians with a main or side interest in queueing to contribute to the 11th WRQ.
