The Department of Economics at the University of Chicago invites applications for a full-time Senior Research Associate. This is a three-year position and will begin in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Working in collaboration with the faculty director, the SRA will conduct original research authoring and co-authoring academic publications. The SRA is expected to have an active role in obtaining and carrying out funded research and will serve as Co-Investigator and independent Principal Investigator on research grants, specific to ongoing research in Latin America; the goal is to work with the private sector and the public sector to solve social problems. The main areas of interest from different organizations and research are around worker productivity (including mental health), education, migration, and anything related to crime and conflict. Experience in research in local contexts around constraints of entrepreneurs, field experiments on migration, and polarization and conflicts in Latin America is beneficial to this role.
Qualifications
Teaching requirement: The SRA is also expected to teach one to two undergraduate courses per year.
Minimum requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Economics, at least 4 years postdoctoral experience, and a strong commitment to research. They must have demonstrated ability to communicate research findings clearly to multiple audiences through oral presentations and written work.
A microeconomist with experience in the experimental and behavioral economics is preferred.
