The Search

Tulane University, one of the nation’s premier research institutions, seeks a visionary and interdisciplinary scholar to serve as the Presidential Chair in Economics within the School of Liberal Arts’ Department of Economics. Serving at the highest echelon of Tulane’s academic ranks, presidential chairs are endowed, full-professor positions that serve a vital role in advancing Tulane’s research mission. The Chair will lead transformative, policy-oriented research that elevates the Department's scholarship, broadens its influence in the field, and attracts distinguished scholars and resources to support its continued growth. The successful candidate will be a nationally and internationally recognized economist with a distinguished research record and a demonstrated ability to bridge economic research with real-world policy applications. They will maintain a high-impact research agenda that enhances and expands the department’s strengths and reputation in applied microeconomics. Additionally, they will play a critical role in fostering strategic, cross-campus collaborations, partnering with leading research centers such as the Stone Center for Latin American Studies, the Murphy Institute for Political Economy, and the School of Public Health.
