About the role
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Economics at University College London to work on the research project “All women are born (un)equal: menopause, HRT and women's well-being”, which has received funding by the Nuffield Foundation.
The project aims to build robust evidence on the causal impacts of menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) on multiple dimensions of women's lives. It will analyze the effects on health care use, physical and mental health, cognitive functions, personal relationships, economic outcomes and welfare use, examining whether disadvantaged women are harmed more by the menopausal transition and benefit less from HRT.
The duties will include:
• To conduct econometric analyses of multiple datasets to study the impacts of menopause and HRT.
• To implement state-of-the-art methodological approaches including difference-in-differences and control function methods.
• To support data management and cleaning of large-scale longitudinal datasets.
• To contribute to report writing and academic paper preparation and submission to journals.
• To assist with stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities.
• To contribute to the overall activities of the department as required.
• As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the postholder.
• The postholder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager or Head of Department/Division.

What we offer
Dr. Gabriella Conti, the Principal Investigator, is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on the “All women are born (un)equal: menopause, HRT and women's well-being” project. This post is available for 22 months starting in June 2025.
UCL salary scale Grade 7, £43,124 to £51,610 per annum inclusive of London Allowance, dependent upon experience and qualifications
UCL full-time working week totals 36.5 hours. At UCL we offer 27 days of annual leave plus six closure days. Will work at the offices of the Department of Economics, Drayton House, 30 Gordon Street, London WC1H 0AX.
