Full Text of JOE Listing:

The University of Wyoming Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to conduct empirical economics research on how structural changes in the US healthcare system are influencing rural health outcomes. The position involves collaborating with Anders Van Sandt and other scholars from Michigan State University and Utah State University on econometric modeling using restricted-access microdata within the Census Bureau’s Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC) system. The research will explore how healthcare industrial consolidation is influencing rural residents’ health outcomes through changes in physical, social, and financial access to health services.

This position provides opportunities to publish academic journal articles, develop strong outreach and Extension practices, and present scholarly work at academic conferences. While the work must take place in an FSRDC near the project team, there are multiple FSRDC locations giving the successful applicant flexibility to live in Laramie, WY, Fort Collins, CO, Ann Arbor, MI, or East Lansing, MI. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, advanced data management and statistical analysis skills, teamwork, and interests in health economics, regional economics, and Extension outreach. This is a full-time benefited position for two years.
