The College of Wooster Economics Department invites applications for two one-year visiting positions at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2025. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. (or completion anticipated) in Economics, Business Economics, or a closely held discipline. Candidates with expertise in interdisciplinary fields are encouraged to apply.

We are especially interested in hiring faculty who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community through their teaching, research, and service. The College of Wooster enrolls a diverse student body (21% domestic students of color and 15% international students); all applicants are expected to discuss their experience working with diverse student populations.

The successful candidates will demonstrate teaching excellence and ability to advise undergraduate research. The candidate's research and teaching may be in any economics field, with a preference for labor, health, education, or environmental. As a liberal arts college valuing critical inquiry, we welcome candidates who embrace interdisciplinarity and pluralism. In addition to offering elective courses related to fields of expertise, teaching responsibilities will include Principles of Economics. The candidate will also provide one-on-one student advising through the College’s mentored senior thesis program. Visiting faculty teach the equivalent of 6.0 courses per year.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, unofficial graduate transcripts, evidence of strong teaching (such as teaching philosophy and evaluations), research statement, job market paper, diversity statement detailing how the applicant expects to engage with issues of diversity and inclusion in the classroom and campus community, and 3 letters of reference. To receive full consideration apply through the JOE portal by March 15. Applications will be received through the JOE portal and review will continue until the position is filled.
