The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) anticipates filling at least one Ph.D. level supervisory senior research economist position in the National Economic Accounts Research Group.

BEA’s mission is to promote a better understanding of the U.S. economy by providing the most timely, relevant, and accurate economic accounts data. To achieve our mission objectives, we need highly qualified economists and other professionals equipped to develop new and innovative approaches to economic measurement that keep pace with the dynamic economy.

A successful senior supervisory economist in the national economic accounts area will lead a team of Ph.D. level research economists working on economic measurement, including overseeing development of research ideas, presentations, and publications. The supervisor role includes duties such as working with researchers on project plans and guiding research to meet BEA’s mission and objectives. The candidate is expected to conduct collaborative and/or independent research on measurement topics of importance to BEA's mission and will be expected to present the research at conferences and publish in professional journals, as well as work to implement the research in the U.S. economic accounts.
