The Department of Economics at McMaster University invites applications from advanced Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Full Professors for the Spencer Family Professorship, a position commencing July 1, 2023 (start date is flexible). The appointment will be with tenure, at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. The Professorship holder will contribute to the body of scholarship in the Department of Economics through teaching and research in applied and empirical microeconomics, with a preference for research relating to the Canadian experience. The Professorship comes with a research allowance of $40,000 per year. The successful applicant must demonstrate a compelling vision for both continuing and further developing McMaster’s longstanding strength in applied and empirical microeconomics research and graduate training.

The Professorship holder will maintain an outstanding program of research, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, sustain the collegial atmosphere within the Department, and help realize the Department’s and the University’s commitment to the goals of equity, diversity, and inclusivity.

• demonstrated scholarly excellence in the area of applied and empirical microeconomics;
• demonstrated ability to successfully teach graduate and undergraduate students and supervise graduate students;
• ability to work in a collaborative environment; and
• contributions to university, professional and/or community service.
