The Washington State Employment Security Department invites applicants for a remote part-time Operations Research Specialist. This position conducts comprehensive evaluations on workforce programs and policies, delivering products and services at the local and state level, providing technical support to clients, and operating as the informational and communications link between the department, the customers, and the general public.

Duties:
-Design and conduct quantitative evaluation research to improve workforce programs, policies, and delivery of workforce services in Washington State.
-Prepare final reports, conclusions, and recommendations.
-Engage in customer service and stakeholder management.
-Review, evaluate, and proofread work completed by coworkers.

Required qualifications:
-Knowledge of: The body of logic principles, practices, and methods in statistical theory and research design and activities.
-Ability to: develop, organize, direct difficult research; lead coordination of highly complex statistical projects; write clearly and concisely; supervise and coordinate the work of others; reports and recommendations.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
-A graduate degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, or social sciences with strong quantitative skills.
-Demonstrated ability to use specialized software (R, SQL) to collect data from large databases, create data sets for econometric or statistical analysis.
-Demonstrated ability to write technical and plain language reports.
