Job Title:

Senior Research Economist, CBEA

Job Purpose:

Assist the leadership of the CBEA and WORTH initiatives to conduct economic impact assessments and other related work.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Associate Director of the CBEA to undertake economic impact assessments; conduct specialized analyses, studies and projects, including guidance for investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs; and study and disseminate population demographic and workforce measures to support regional development. Work with the Associate Director to complete funded research projects.

This position is funded by the new Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality (WORTH) initiative at the University of Wyoming. To support the WORTH initiative, work closely with stakeholders in the Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality sector, with the goal of deepening Wyoming’s investment in these industries. More specifically, collect data, execute economic impact analysis and work with stakeholders to encourage economic development in the WORTH industries. Work with other faculty, researchers, and the director of WORTH to coordinate efforts in this initiative. Assist with other economic analysis projects in the CBEA.

Supplemental Functions:

Other economic analysis-related projects and work as assigned or required.

Remote Work Eligibility:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in economics or a related field, and 3-5 years of experience.
Requires explicit knowledge of standard statistical software, such as R, Python, or Stata.

Desired Qualifications:

PhD in economics and experience executing economic impact analyses.
Other desired qualifications include:
Knowledge of and experience with software for economic impact analyses, such as IMPLAN or REMI. Experience with survey analysis and programming in Qualtrics.
Knowledge of Wyoming’s economy.
Previous work on tourism or outdoor recreation economic impact analyses.
Documented ability to effectively communicate verbally and orally to diverse audiences about complex topics involving data, and prior experience working cooperatively with government agencies and private industry.
