Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Budget and Financial Analysis Division is recruiting for a strategic, collaborative leader committed to data integrity and transparency to lead the WSDOT Economic Analysis Office and Office of Financial Management’s (OFM) Transportation Revenue Forecast Council. The Assistant Director, Economic Analysis Office is accountable for providing independent forecasts and economic analysis to inform Washington State’s annual budgeting process and inform budget decisions made by transportation agencies and Washington’s elected officials.

As the Assistant Director of Economic Analysis, you will be WSDOT’s Senior Economist directing and controlling the policies and processes to lead the Office of Economic Analysis, facilitate the Transportation Revenue Forecast Council (TRFC) as well as prepare and administer the most significant transportation revenue sources (fuel tax, licenses, permits, and fees, federal revenue, etc.) for the quarterly State Transportation Revenue Forecast. Your leadership and econometric talents are critical to enhancing efficient and effective government. You will work with consultants and lead other staff on projects involving development of revenue forecasts, evaluating proposed legislation, conducting cost benefit analysis and statistical research studies.

This position is one of four Assistant Directors who, under the direction of Budget and Financial Analysis’ Director, oversee the work of a group of non-partisan budget, forecasting, and financial planning professionals. On behalf of the Secretary of Transportation, the Budget and Financial Analysis (BFA) Division has direct responsibility to act as stewards of the department’s financial integrity and credibility. The division provides budget development, advocacy, allotment, monitoring, economic data, and forecasting, and financial analysis services for the department.
