Position Description
The Department of Agricultural Economics in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University is looking for a qualified candidate to hold the position of Assistant Professor. The position will be a full-time, 9-month appointment slated to begin in January 2023. The holder of this position will carry out research on mixture of optimization and econometrics based Agricultural Sectoral Economic Analysis of climate change and other environmental and policy issues conducting nationally and internationally prominent research. The successful applicant will demonstrate command of climate change economics, econometric analysis of agricultural implications of climate change issues, sector modeling and optimization theory. The research agenda may emerge from the disciplines of agricultural and environmental economics. Scholarship that integrates these disciplines and demonstrates impact is expected.
Research areas could include, but are not limited to:
• economic analysis of a) climate change effects on the agricultural sector and its productivity, b) agricultural adaptation to climate change, and c) mitigation of climate change through greenhouse gas actions.
• Optimization based sector modeling
The position holder will participate in mentoring, teaching, graduate student research advising, and assisting in the recruitment of a diverse student body. Teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs is expected covering 3 classes per year. Teaching possibilities include undergraduate quantitative methods and natural resource/environmental economics, graduate optimization applications, sector modeling and climate change economics.
Other duties are to participate in curriculum and policy development related to the departmental programs.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in agricultural economics, economics, business, or related field.
