University of Pittsburgh, Dept. of Economics is searching for a faculty appointment effective September 2023, pending budgetary approval. We seek excellence in teaching and research. Salary, scholarly assistance, and benefits are competitive. Complementarities with the research of current faculty are essential.

Assistant Professor

This position is part of cluster hire on “Race and Social Determinants of Equity, Health and Well-Being” within the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. The cluster hire initiative will “build upon the expertise of existing Pitt faculty to conduct research, educate students and engage in service designed to eliminate racial disparities in the social determinants of equity and to improve measures of well-being in the Pittsburgh region, nationally and across the globe.” In the context of this cluster, the Department of Economics is searching for a candidate whose research analyzes race and economic inequality over time and across space, incorporating historic and contemporary data, and using a variety of economics research methodologies. Applications from candidates whose research concentrates on the racial dimensions of labor markets and education access are particularly encouraged. PhD in economics required.
