The World Justice Project (WJP) is seeking a full-time, Washington DC-based Research Director of Access to Justice. Position reports directly to Chief Research Officer and responsible for managing a global research portfolio aimed at generating people-centered and policy-relevant justice data and evidence.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Further develop, execute, and fundraise for WJP’s A2J Research Agenda.
• Lead research efforts on topics including access to justice and technology, economic costs of legal problems, and justice needs of migrants.
• Manage a team of research staff and contractors in conducting data analysis, writing, design, and production of research products.
• Represent WJP in initiatives related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, integrate WJP research into relevant discussions, and coordinate with the Engagement team regarding strategic convenings and opportunities.
• Present research to various audiences and engage with WJP’s global network of partners.
• Contribute to fundraising efforts, identifying relevant funding opportunities, drafting concept notes and proposals, and managing donor relationships.
• Provide technical guidance and input to other teams.

Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or master’s degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, or another relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience, or 3+ years if the candidate has a Ph.D.
• Superior research and data analysis skills.
• A track record of policy-relevant analytical work, demonstrated by publications, reports, and experience with policy dialogue.
• Experience with fundraising and grant management.
• Knowledge of survey research methods.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including appropriate supervisory and management methodologies.
• Strong communications skills, including experience presenting to various audiences and the ability to write quickly and concisely.
• Proven capacity for strategic thinking and planning.
• Willingness to travel, including overseas.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; other software skills preferred.
• Experience with quantitative research, including econometric analysis and data visualization (preferred).
• Proficiency in a second language (preferred).
